About the Artist

Process
Ruth Kristoff is a sculptor whose primary genre is installation.

Upon completion of a large installation, she commonly reverts to modeling sculptural maquettes or 2D experimentation that explores the properties and colors of altered space.

Kristoff views these as germination pieces. They usually reflect an aspect of the human condition. After exploration and self-critique from these realized, pondered images, a concept takes root. The vision of a new, large-scale installation is derived and the germination seeds are the basis of a new hybrid body of work.
